COMPOSITION FOR VIOLIN AND LIVE ELECTRONICS // 2008
südwärts
The violin is used to produce an organic sound spectrum. In the distance you hear
a very simple electronic sound; the sine wave. Both sound sources are controlled
by a switch that allows the sound to pass or not. This pattern based switch is used
to amplify and produce rhythm out of continuous-like sound material. The piece is
developing subtle, however strong layers out of minimal violin and sine wave sound.
Different rhythmic patterns slowly develop, morphing into new ones.
A piece questioning the relationship of human controlled sound with mechanical
rhythmic precision. A tightrope walk between sound and groove; between sense and precision.
